Consulting Services

Introduction

John Cruet, Jr., A.I.A. offers a variety of consulting services to the profession and the construction industry, which are designed to relieve the existing architectural and related firms from work overload. Sometimes referred in the profession as "outsourcing", these services can help satisfy the need for an extra hand while not placing an additional burden on the existing staff of an existing firm.

These services include Space Planning, Zoning Compliance consulting, Site Development Planning, Feasibility Studies, Drafting, and CADD.

Space Planning

John Cruet offers his extensive experience in the preparation of office planning, factory plant planning and tenant planning.

Using a combination of such experience and CADD tools, my firm can usually turn around a basic space plan for a tenant proposal in 24 hours, assuming a normal workload. My CADD system can read to and write from any CADD system via DWG ensuring accuracy in representation.

In addition, such space planning can include both interior and exterior visual exhibits for client presentations.

This service is available either as a prime consultant or as a consultant to an architect.

Can Your firm's CADD System Produce This Document?

Zoning Compliance & Site Development Planning

This service is offered to those who desire information related to the purchase or sale of real estate. It is intended to answer technical questions related to a site's best use. Information furnished may include information regarding Building Coverage, Best Use allowable by Zoning, Location of proposed Buildings, Landscaping and On-site Parking, Demonstration of Zoning Compliance , and On-site ADA compliance features.

The main presentation tool, unique to my firm, is the computer-generated Colored Site Plan Study. Totally computer-generated, all individual elements are drawn to scale and can be freely manipulated.

Drafting and CADD

A growing number of firms are at a crossroads where the workload has increased dramatically. They may experience difficulty and hardship attempting to make sudden changes in their personnel or effect immediate expansion plans to cope with sudden increases in workloads.

John Cruet can help, utilizing my fully computerized Macintosh-based practice with complete word processing, worksheet, project scheduling, 2D drafting, and 3D representation. I utilize these CADD tools (I've had CADD since 1985) and my extensive technical and professional experience, dating back to 1968, to help prepare my work.

I use PowerCadd to prepare construction documents according to your sheet layout and specifications. My documents appear as they would if drafted by hand- complete with line thicknesses and lettering which resembles hand lettering. The documents are then plotted on my HP large format plotter (24 inches x "X") and then delivered to you for your use.

When doing building design on CAD, (Design Phase) I use VectorWorks to construct the model of the building in scale. Once the model is constructed, then plans, elevations, and sections are developed from model views. Also, I can develop both interior and exterior colored perspective views with this tool. At my option, these can be further developed in either VectorWorks or PowerCadd.

Also, utilizing Vectorworks' built-in animation tools and QuickTime, I can also develop walkthrough studies of a space.

In addition, each document can be saved in DWG format for export to programs like AutoCAD. The document will open in AutoCAD in Model Space and the various elements are editable.

Note, however, that I cannot save colored perspectives or colored materials in AutoCAD DWG format. Instead, these colored perspectives are saved in JPEG format where they can be exported via email to remote sites. I can also export 3D wireframes via e-mail to remote server sites.

Delivery is via parcel post, or, if within 10-mile radius, directly to your office. If delivered via Federal Express, I would request your FedEx number such that you may be billed directly for that service.

Alternatively, my work may be e-mailed to your remote server location anywhere within the range of the world wide web. I use client-based E-mail, and can attach compressed documents to each email.
My email currently has a capacity of 20 megabytes. Note also that I can receive photos and documents transmitted via email quickly with my high speed DSL connection.

As mentioned above, the document will open in AutoCAD in Model Space and the various elements are editable, except for PC text font styles.
